The Wind Blows and the Flowers Dance is my metaphor for life. Walking along a road early one morning, I saw dainty little white flowers effortlessly giving into the wind. Life just is. As I began to lay out the painting, my hands cast distinct shadows on the canvas. Perfect. The hands became the shadows for the plants. Hands trying to grasp impermanence, wanting to control.

Charlie is still a powerful influence as I express and feel the depth of his personality. He used to say, "I can tell how good a carpenter is by looking in his tool box." I painted Charlie's Red Wings as one of my tributes to him.

Ghost Tree symbolizes the impermanence of life, equanimity, and beauty. As the tree continues to decay, it becomes a symbol of calm and composure, inviting in other life. It is always beautiful, no matter what.

What Happened? I painted this for me. I am that person who doesn't throw flowers away until they are long time dead. Observing each stage from beginning bud to wrinkled, faded petals drop, fascinating and beautiful. Like me, they are in transition and continue to express the cycle of life.

Are You There? This is the one question that I ask as I look up at the night sky and remember Charles. The painting also contains my feeling of belonging, that I  too, am a part of this cosmos.
